Hike Jones Park, Forester Trail Loop

Hi Secular Hikers,

Weather permitting; there will be a hike on Monday, July 7th.  This hike will be going up Seven Bridges Trail going past Jones Park to the Forester Trail heading towards Frostys Park, returning on the Pipeline trail.  This is a relatively difficult hike with a significant elevation gain.  The trailhead parking lot is about 7500 ft.  Frostys Park is at an elevation of about 10300 ft.

Some of us plan on going out to dinner after the hike and some of us will be carpooling from the Woodmen Valley park-n-ride. To get there from Interstate 25 and Woodmen Road, go west to the first stop light, turn left (south) on Corporate Drive, turn right (west) at the first intersection onto Mark Dabling Blvd, take an immediate right turn into the parking lot.  We will be leaving this parking lot at 8:15 AM.

Please bring enough water and snacks for the hike.

Please let me know if you plan on attending the hike and where you will meet us. If you change your mind, please let me know that also.

p.s. It costs me $72 twice a year to be a meetup organizer.  Would you please consider helping by sharing this expense?  If I receive about $0.50 per person (including guests) per hike or (to avoid a bunch of quarters) $1.00 per person about every other hike you attend, I would come out roughly even.

Loved the less traveled trails through the forest. I need a new rain jacket and did not enjoy the rain as much as Chris did, but it certainly cooled us off.

The round trip was around 11 to 11 3/4 miles.

It was a very warm day and some of us had difficulty with the heat. Also, Gene had difficulty with allergies and had to turn around early. The rest of us continued up Seven Bridges Trail 622 to Jones Park, then up Trail 667 to Trail 720A then up Trail 720 to the Forester Trail 701. We came down a trail that connected to the Pipeline Trail 668 and then down Seven Bridges Trail 622 to the parking lot.

Is this the same route as we took on the snow day? Troggins is trying to decide if he will come. He made it to the plane on his own 4 paws so if this is less than 15 miles he will attend.

I was thinking we would head towards the beaver ponds then cut over to Forester Trail (on the shortcut you have not been on) then head towards Frostys Park (again on a portion you have not been on). The total round distance will probably be less than 15 miles. Part of this we have done before, the nest is new.

    Rich, welcome back.

I'll bring the cash, collected by Doris and myself on our hikes.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
