Hi Dwight,

I don't appear on the Meetup website as a a member. I do get the emails though.

I know this is late but I would like to vote for and attend the Palmer Park hike.

Do you know how I can become a "member" again on the Meetup web site?

Thanx,

Jim

Hi Hiking Freethinkers,

Weather permitting, there will be a hike on Sunday, Jan. 1st starting at 10 AM. There will be 5 hikes from which to choose. These hikes will last take 2 to 5 hours depending on the hike chosen, how far people want to hike, weather and trail conditions. Please let me know if you have any time constraints that require you to be back before late afternoon.

Hike 1) Sinton Trail. This trail starts from the Front Range Trail (between Garden of the Gods and Fillmore) and heads west towards 30th Street. This is an extremely easy hike.

Hike 2) Templeton Gap Trail. This trail starts from the Front Range Trail (between Garden of the Gods and Fillmore) and heads east towards Palmer park. This is also an extremely easy hike.

Hike 3) Red Rocks. There are several trails of different length and difficulty level from which to choose. They are all relatively easy trails.

Hike 4) Palmer Park. We would be starting the hike at a small parking lot off Paseo Road and winding our way up to the top of the park. Then we will be returning back to the parking lot. The paths taken would depend on the desires of the group that attends this hike. I consider this hike a relatively easy hike.

Hike 5) Aiken Canyon. A well-maintained, four-mile-loop hiking trail begins at the entrance. An additional 3/4 mile trail branches off from the loop and makes its way through the canyon. 410 ft. elevation gain. About 16 miles south of Colorado Springs, about 20 miles north of highway 50 just off highway 115. I consider this a moderately easy hike. If this hike is chosen, we will carpool from the park-n-ride under Interstate 25 between Tejon and Nevada.

p.s. If you vote for a hike and that is the one selected, you are expected to attend. If you do not, your vote will count less in the future.
