Our keynote speaker will be Jim Barron of the Boulder Atheists. Jim was from a very Christian family. He will talk about what prayer meant for him as a young believer and how he feels now about his family wanting to pray for him. He thinks this will promote a better understanding of and empathy for people of faith. It should also help people deal with situations in which prayer is offered. This is an “open-mike” in which anyone can talk events in their own lives that made them choose to walk away from religion. These experiences can be books, movies, friendships, or whatever.
