Monthly Potluck

Our March 2nd Meetup will be held at the Olde Sedona Bar and Grill in West Sedona, from 2 to about 4 PM. Since we get to use the restaurant’s back room at no cost, it would be good to buy food and/or drink.

One of our Meetup members, Ben Fama, Jr., will host a viewing of his secular-oriented documentary, “A Virus Called Fear”. Afterwards Ben will lead a discussion. NOTE: Richard Dawkins appears in Ben’s film!

ABOUT THE FILM

“A Virus Called Fear” is a documentary short film that explores irrational fears, and how they distort our perceptions of reality. It asks the question of how fear, a response that enables survival, can lead to control and irrationality. Using the metaphor of a computer virus, the film challenges the largest “hubs” of fear, such as media and politics, but with an emphasis on religion, and how we can be programmed by these hubs.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER

Ben Fama Jr. is a filmmaker and freelance cinematographer from Sedona, AZ who recently graduated from the Zaki Gordon Institute for Independent Filmmaking and currently attends Sedona Film School. He currently works as a freelance cinematographer and started his own business, Fama Media Productions, which services commercial and video work in Sedona and surrounding areas.

I just posted an announcement of the meeting in the events section of Craig's List. I hope it brings some new people in. If anyone has a good and free way of promoting, please take advantage of it.
