Monthly Meeting

A relevant speaker will be in Northern Arizona and has agreed to present to us. Neil Wehneman is Development Director with the national offices of the Secular Student Alliance (SSA). The SSA is the college campus organization of freethinkers. We have previously discussed reaching out to students and the survey results indicate that education is the area of outreach that is of greatest interest to our group.

Neil's primary mission is fund raising. He will not be aggressively soliciting at this event. He really wants to inform us about SSA and will gladly answer our questions about supporting secular curriculum, etc. I will also talk about some good news... three new venues for our potlucks... current members who are willing to host upcoming meetings. I'd like to talk about preferences for the next speaker and finances as well.

This is a happy hour event. We'll be indoors in the back room. If you can't arrive until later, no problem, many of us will be lingering to take advantage of the half off appetizers menu (until 7 PM). On Thursdays they also have $4 pizzas and $3 house wine.

    Howdy, folks!

I'm really looking forward to coming out for this. I have an event in Prescott that I'm also going to later in the evening (it starts at 6:00 p.m.), so I'll probably be heading out from Sedona at 5:45-6:15 p.m to arrive in Prescott at 7:00-7:30 p.m.

I'm trying to balance my time so I can get the chance to talk with as many supporters as possible while respecting the limitation that my particular sack of carbon can only be in one place at a time :-/.

As an additional reason to come out, Lori Fazzino will be with me. She's the UNLV Graduate Instructor in Sociology who is working with the SSA on refining our Secular Safe Zone curriculum!

My cell phone (call or text) is[masked] if anyone needs to reach me.

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone!
