GREEN LEADERSHIP AND WORLD LANGUAGES MAGNET ELEMENTARY

GREEN LEADERSHIP AND WORLD LANGUAGES MAGNET ELEMENTARY

Frances Worsham, Title Reading Intervention Teacher for grades 2 and 3, would love to have dog teams come and read with her second grade classes!!  This is the Green Road School location and has now become a Magnet Elementary on a traditional WCPSS school calendar.  Please go to their website greenes.wcpss.net for more interesting information regarding their program. This will be a very interesting and fun read event and I hope we will have good availability for this school to continue for the[masked] school year!!

Please make sure you have registered for the[masked] WCPSS school year as a volunteer as this must be done each school year.  As always, have your current proof of certification with you and remember you represent your certifying organization.

Please arrive 15 minutes or so early to meet and greet your fellow teams and go into the office to sign in.  The office staff will let us know where we need to meet, and for our first read, Frances Worsham will be there to greet us. We should be in and signed up and ready to read by 12:30 :-)

Thanks and I look forward to this opportunity for us all!!     Beth

The kids here are so genuinely sweet. At the end of today's read, the teachers gave each of us heart-felt "thank you" letters the kids had written to our canine companions. The letters are precious, some are funny... to quote from one..."Thank you for letting me read with you. Vinnie and Pia don't bark when I am reading. All listen to me when I am reading and they enjoy the storys." The teachers and organizer Frances Worsham, presented us with a very special gift as well. We will miss Frances next year, but we congratulate her on her well-deserved retirement. We appreciate all she did for See Spot Read this year! It was a happy/sad day---happy because the kids so enjoy being with the dogs, sad because this was the last event at this school. In June, they will begin to tear this school done and the kids will be displaced for two years while the school is being renovated.

The last reading day at Green Leadership is Friday, May 30, until the fall. If you have not had a chance to visit this school, please consider visiting Green Leadership. The kids are delightful and love interacting with our canine companions. The staff is very supportive of our program as well.
