Playing with Fire

    • Please read descriptions of events before attending.
Important information may be in the description.

      What are we doing?

      Tonight's prompt is:

    • You come across a pack of matches that sets off a series of uncanny events. Start your story with “My mother always told me not to play with fire.” End it with “And that’s how I ended up in the middle of nowhere—naked.”

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The prompts, themes, topics, and/or events are posted here on meetup.
Check the Seeking the muse meetup Calendar to see upcoming events.

During a meeting we have time to write and then time to share what we've written.

If you'd like to bring something that you have written before the group you are welcome to do so.

Time is limited, so if you have a long piece you want to share,
please break it up into smaller sections to read on different nights
so others have a chance to read during the meeting.

I provide a prompt or idea and the group has time to work on whatever it is that they decide to do. As always, if you do not want to write or create on the topics provided then you can use the free time to "do your own thing". Think of the prompts as optional.

You are welcome to just use the time and space for your own creative endeavors. This might be the perfect time for you to commit to spending time on an Open Studio/ Independent Study. If you want to share during the feedback portion of the group then you are encouraged to do so. If you do not wish to share, then you do not have to. We're all coming together to enjoy this time. So just kick back, relax, and have fun.

      What to Bring
Please remember to bring a notebook and a pen/pencil (or laptop and power cord).
A sense of humor and desire for fun are also a plus. smile

Donations to help offset the website fee to run this group are appreciated, but not mandatory.

      Where are we meeting?

We'll be meeting in the Community Room
at the Qdoba Mexican Restaurant in Cherry Hill, NJ.
Qdoba is located in the Ellisburg Circle Shopping Center
on Rt. 70 and Kings Highway.

      1630 North Kings Highway
      Cherry Hill, NJ 08034

...and by the way, for anyone interested these are the 5 affirmations of the AWA (Amherst Writers and Artists) method that I mentioned: 1. Everyone has a strong, unique voice.
    2. Everyone is born with creative genius.
    3. Writing as an art form belongs to all people, regardless of economic class or educational level.
    4. The teaching of craft can be done without damage to a writer's original voice or artistic self-esteem.
    5. A writer is someone who writes.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
