Open Source Selenium Products

Two Short Talks!

Selenium Tools and Futures
Frank Cohen, CEO, PushToTest, the Open Source Test (OST) Company

With the Selenium project team's focus on making the WebDriver APIs a W3C standard, this is a good time to talk about where Selenium is going and the support it is getting from commercial open source companies. Frank Cohen, CEO at PushToTest, will discuss Selenium tools - record/playback utilities, deploying Selenium scripts to the Cloud, results analysis tools to surface functional issues and performance bottlenecks, and operational test database repositories - needed to be productive and successful with Selenium.

Open Source Test Case Management for Selenium
Sanjiva Nath, Founder & CEO of zAgile

There are several challenges today with managing Selenium scripts: --No way to manage test suites associated with Selenium scripts. --No easy way to extract test definition from execution.

--No way to link tests to requirements and track across iterations to achieve traceability.
--No support for test suites and multiple nesting levels.
--No support for test automation or workflows.

This presentation shows how the open source Wikidsmart QA product can enable the Confluence wiki to achieve these things along with integration with Selenium and the JIRA issue tracker.

Both talks were excellent. Frank's presentation about PushToTest's tools was informative and immediately useful. I also found the handouts he brought to be great for my team at work. Sanjiva's description of the common problem of siloing and restricted information flow was quite pertinent, and the Wikidsmart product seems an innovative solution.

I am new for the Selenium products but I was impressed by the speakers. They are very knowledgeable CEOs and founders of professional open source Selenium software publisher of test automation tools.

This was a great Meetup. I learned that we now have alternatives to commercial load testing tools. I like using Cucumber and RSpec in my Rails projects. The Open Source technology I saw last night will fit well with that.

Great information on Selenium open source tools and augmentation. I enjoyed Frank's presentation quite a bit, and found the presentation, partnership opportunities and discussions to be a great fit for me and my firm. The food was great as well. Looking forward to next month.
