The last meeting was an unqualified success, and we had over 40 people in attendance. We're expecting several families at this next event too. Incorporating a Game Night into our information session worked very well, and we are going to do the same thing this time. It's a great opportunity to come meet our growing community. We now have even more students who have decided to attend BSLC when open, and the number of interested families continues to grow.
There's plenty of space at the Parish House so bring your children, there will be a chance for them to have some snacks, play games and get to know each other in the auditorium. We'll also be announcing a full slate of future dates for other BSLC social events, outdoor events and play days later in the Spring. All of our events are family friendly, so feel free to bring the younger children as well. Though we will only be serving students from ages 10-19 at the learning center, we have several families with children under age 10 who have expressed interest in participating in BSLC's community by attending social events and play days. We think this is a great idea, and welcome those families in our broader community. There is plenty of parking, so if you haven't had a chance to come out and meet us, this would be a great opportunity. If you enjoyed Game Night on the 27th, feel free to come on out and see us again. The staff and several parents have suggested that we make Game Night a regular event in the future, and we think that is a great idea, and we're in the process of scheduling more dates.
For those of you new to all this, BSLC is a new, alternative learning center for teens and tweens that will be starting in 2014. We have found space at the UU church in Dedham, where we are currently having most of our events. For more information go to www.baystatelearning.org We'll also be doing all the usual information session things as well: Staff will overview our unique program and answer any questions you may have. We will give a short presentation about self-directed learning and BSLC, but, most importantly, we'll be taking your questions about us and our program. We want to hear your concerns and get a feel for your needs and goals. We think the input of parents and students is central to our project. So please come out and be part of the process of building our educational community.
