Semantics in Bioinformatics & discussion on Center of Excellence

  • Oct 23, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Discussion points include:

• Review current trends in data creation, aggregation, processing, analysis and curation

• Data modeling standards

• Pros/Cons of Centralized Data

• Bioinformatics Reasoning

• Merging and Aligning Ontologies

On a separate note, Mr. Bruce Carpenter will also be with us to briefly share his vision for a Center of Excellence on Semantic Technologies here in Central Florida.  We will set the stage for a follow up discussion with a broader audience but didn't want to loose the opportunity for everyone to hear what's developing here in our backyard.

We are a start-up ( and are applying for SBIR grants that hopefully will get us to the point where we will bring in equity investments. We now have a demo portal for publishing computational chemistry data to the semantic web and an associated SPARQL endpoint. I will be interested to hear about Center of Excellence.

Neil, we'll make sure we set aside enough time for Bruce to share the latest development re center of excellence. Btw, is your sparql endpoint publicly available?
