RE: [SWSMG] 6/24 Meeting: Making Business Sense of the Semantic Web

Thank you Linda (and Robert) for taking the lead on this while the iron is hot. We have an incredible opportunity this year on the inside edge as Semantic technologies vie for a place in business and enterprise. We are very convinced that NOW is the time to take the lead as a group and a region in showing that these needs can be viably met with the resources at hand – especially here in the Northwest. I challenge each of us (organizations and individuals) in this rapidly growing group to take a hold and a part in bringing the needs and the resources together. I, for one, see food on the table – Let’s EAT!

Wellness to you and yours,

Subject: [SWSMG] 6/24 Meeting: Making Business Sense of the Semantic Web

Hi Everyone,

We finally have a venue and agenda for our next meet up this Wednesday, June 24, from 6:30-8:30 pm.

Sorry for the short notice, but logistics had to be last minute due to the conference.

At SemTech 2009, there was not enough presence of the business community with their case studies and business problems to be solved by semantic technology. There were tool providers, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, and consultants, but no real clients. Two things we'd like to cover at this month's meetup is an informal report of the conference from those who attended and a proposition to bring the local business and semantic technology communities together in partnerships that will be profitable for all. I hope you can make it!

Linda Avraamides

  1. Informal presentations of impressions and take-aways from anyone who attended SemTech 2009, including the Meetup of Meetups (SemTech 2009 attendees)
  2. Formal location and sponsorship of this meetup group (Robert Krause)
  3. Additional topics and/or ideas about what this meetup can provide the community (all members)

Room 516, Casey Hall (10th Ave & E Marion St, just off Broadway)
Seattle University
On the Main Campus map, Casey Hall is Building 25.
Parking: on street or you can take your chances in the garage off Broadway (#23 on the map).
