Hi All,

Is there anyone in this group who knows or uses Protege? If so, would you be willing to give some tutorials in it, either individually or to a group? I'm mainly interested in coming up to speed quickly in the tool and not ontology design; I can bring my own ontology to the discussion.

thanks,
Linda Avraamides

I'm not a heavy Protege user, but I've been trying to use it more. One issue I've had is that I tend to have more ABox (i.e. instance) than a lot of ontologies that are often purely TBox (i.e. classes). I've been really fighting with the tool (and perhaps the language) to make that happen. I'm also interested in a howto of working with the Pellet reasoner or other practically useful plugins. If people are more interested in TopBraid composer or some other tool, I'm open minded. So count me in as someone who is interested in attending a Protege or other editing tools session.

Ah, I just had a breakthrough on the issue I mentioned in my previous comment. I found this tutorial to be very helpful:

For more OWL background I've found Semantic Web for the Working Ontologist to be a good reference.
