We followed a pair of ospreys over to their nest on a light pole at Memorial Stadium and wondered why they would want to raise a family overlooking the ball field. Are the baseball teams here really that good? We decided to find out.
Friday night we'll gather at the historic stadium to watch the Sanford River Rats take on Winter Park. The Rats are currently leading the six teams in the Florida Collegiate Summer League. These players are said to be tops in the state.
Tickets are $5 and $3 for seniors. A lot cheaper than driving over to watch the Tampa Rays. Leslie Martin will be standing outside the gate at 6:30 with Seminole Audubon tags. Once inside, head down the third base line and you'll find us in the green seats. Sanford Herald has 2 for 1 coupons.
The Florida League is one of ten leagues supported and partially funded by Major League Baseball and is one of ten leagues affiliated with the NACSB - an alliance of college summer wooden bat leagues that follow NCAA rules. The Florida League has been named one of the top leagues in the country by Baseball America.
