Old Ebbit Grill

This  lunch was  scheduled  for after The White  House tour.  The White House was not available on this date. The tour was  cancelled and rescheduled for July 19th.  This lunch is still scheduled.

Old Ebbitt Grill is just steps from The White House and museums in downtown Washington. Established in 1856, it was a favorite of Presidents Grant, Cleveland, Harding and Theodore Roosevelt and is still a popular meeting spot for political insiders, journalists, celebrities and theater-goers.

Its Beaux-Arts facade, mahogany and velvet booths and bars set in marble, brass and beveled glass are Washington at its finest, and The Oyster Bar at Old Ebbitt is D.C.'s most famous.

Food

The Ebbit serves upscale american saloon food with an emphasis on fresh and seasonal ingredients.

Wine

Our extensive wine list has been awarded Wine Spectator Magazine's "Award of Excellence" for 15 years in row. Our progressive wine list is designed to please both novices and wine enthusiasts. The menus include wine pairings, and our well-trained staff is happy to offer suggestions to fit your palate and budget. We feature wines from all over the world, as well as specific oyster-friendly wines which have been winners in our International Wines For Oysters Competition. You may bring your own wine for a $15 corkage fee.

Cakes

We offer a chocolate cake for $39.00 which will serve 10-12 people to be used for your special event. If you would like to bring your own cake, there is a $3.00 per person cutting fee.

Bar

We have four full service bars (the Old Bar, the Oyster Bar, Grant's Bar and the Corner Bar) that all feature Clyde's Classic Cocktails, an impressive selection of wines by the glass, and friendly bartenders dedicated to serving delicious drinks in a convivial, relaxed atmosphere.

Décor

The Victorian interior of Old Ebbitt Grill evokes Washington saloons at the turn of the century. With a history dating back to 1856, many artifacts have been beyond repair, however the spirit of the old Old Ebbitt remains. Original decorations such as antique beer steins, a walrus head (reputedly bagged by Teddy Roosevelt) and the antique clock over the revolving door remain. Its Beaux-Arts facade, mahogany and velvet booths and bars set in marble, brass and beveled glass are Washington at its finest.

Dress Code

Anything goes at the Ebbitt. Our dress is casual—we welcome you in a tuxedo, jeans, a business suit, shorts or a cocktail dress.

Methods of Payment

We accept cash, American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Diner's Club, and Discover. We also accept gift certificates and gift coins issued by any restaurant in the Clyde's Restaurant Group.
