Week 6 - Howarth Park and Spring Lake

We will meet at Howarth Park in the upper parking lot near the boat ramp.  There is a large boulder at the start of the trail head which is where we will gather.

Leashed dogs are welcome. While the parks and trails require a 6 foot leash we do request that you keep a shorter leash on your dog so that they don’t bother other walkers.

As with all of our hikes and walks we do leave at the time indicated. If you find that after you have stated you would be attending but now find you cannot please change your RSVP to no.  We do check to make sure that everyone who stated they would be there has arrived.

Hi Dianne, I'd like to carpool. May I join you in RP and let you drive? I am not familiar with the Park and this is my first hike....don't want to be late. Please let me know time and place to meet. Thanks!

Internet shows 2 Park and Ride lots. Please advise cross street or other landmark, or exit street. Many thanks.

At the Interchange of Hwy. 101 and Rohnert Park Expressway, there is a Northbound and Southbound Park and Ride. Coming from Petaluma you will exit Rohnert Expressway, and get in the lane that goes straight across the Expressway. You will see a blue Park and Ride sign and an arrow. Drive into that parking lot on the North side of Rohnert Park Expressway. I hope the directions help. It is confusing the first time. I have a burgundy Toyota RAV4.

Dianne, sorry but the Internet shows 2 northbound Park and Ride lots. Please advise cross street or some other landmark, as I am not that familiar with Rohnert Park. Many thanks.

It would be helpful if the length/difficulty were mentioned in first sentence and if suitable for beginners.

How long is the distance on this hike?

    March 15, 2013

    • Kendra

Pat - I'm sorry for not responding earlier but I just saw this posting. The hikes are generally 3-5 miles. I don't know exactly how long this one is.

When I last walked this with my gps, it registered at aprox 3.5 miles from Howarth Park, over the hill to Spring Lake, around and back over the hill to the parking lot.
