The 6-mile Half-a-Canoe Loop trail follows an old fire road and it meanders down to the shores of Lake Sonoma while offering gorgeous vistas of the lake and grassy hillsides. The return trip takes you back up to the ridge with a climb of approximately 1400 feet. This hike will delight you with sweeping views of both lake arms, the marina and the dam while providing you with a great workout. The trail starts off flat for the first mile or so....then it drops down to the lake for a delightful stretch and then we climb, climb, climb back up to the ridge to get back to our cars.
We will find a location to stop and eat so please remember to bring something along. Also bring plenty of water and probably not a bad idea to dress in layers.
Dogs are welcome, however we do request they be kept on a short leash.
