Serve KC will be providing and hosting a Sloppy Joe dinner and game time at Sheffield Place.  We will be dividing up into 3 groups to serve dinner and play games on each level of the living quarters.  We need to plan on a total of 35 tenants (15 women/20 children) and 10 Serve KC participants.  All Serve KC participants are expected to sign up and provide an item for the dinner.  Please post a comment with the item you are signing up for and please treat your RSVP as a commitment.  We also need to bring games, puzzles, etc. like the last event.
Thank you and here is some background information:
Sheffield Place opened its doors in February 1991 as a community response to the growing population of homeless mothers and their children in the Kansas City area. Since then, Sheffield Place has assisted more than 560 families in making the difficult journey from homelessness to self-sufficiency. The results speak for themselves. Ninety percent of the program’s graduates and 65 percent of non-graduates achieve success. Success is defined as achieving greater self-determination, increasing education and employment skills, obtaining and retaining permanent housing, and overcoming the impact of trauma. The mission of Sheffield Place is “To empower homeless mothers and their children to heal from their trauma and help them become self-sufficient.”
