Shine a light on autism by joining Serve KC as we volunteer at KC Autism Training Center's 1st Annual  “Light It Up Blue” ceremony. We'll help with setup from 5:30-6:30, then manage the beverage tables, run carnival type games and afterwards help with cleanup.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS ONLY PLEASE

DRESS: Blue is the color of the night, so if you want to wear blue that would be fantastic! The event is planned to be outdoors, so layers are suggested.

PARKING: Please park in the North parking lot of Faith Lutheran Church. This lot is located off 67th St.

"Light It Up Blue" is in conjunction with World Autism Awareness Day, will be held in the south parking lot of Faith Lutheran Church, which is also home to the Kansas City Autism Training Center. The event will include free food, music and family fun from 6:30-8:30 p.m. At sunset the entire building will glow blue and stay that way for the entire month to spread awareness.

About Kansas City Autism Training Center: KcATC is a non-profit specializing in the treatment of autism spectrum disorders and located in Prairie Village. This was SUCH an awesome event! So well planned and so fun to watch the children having such a great time. It's so nice to see people coming together to support such a great cause. Seeing the kids really made me miss my nephew but he was with me in Spirit and we had a blast together eating oatmeal cookies and drinking the yummy blue lemonade! :-)

I signed up earlier today on the wait list, and didn't find out until just now (7 PM) that I was added to the "active" list. I'm so sorry that I cannot come at this point! I need to find a better way to get earlier notification for events that are near-term. Any suggestions?

All I can suggest is looking at your email an hour or so before an event to see if you get bumped up. There's usually at least one person who drops off on most events.. people have to work late, get sick, ect. Hope to see you at another event soon. Monday we'll be back at KcATC to help make learning materials if youu can come.

I will not be able to make it until 6:00 is that going to be problem?

We should have enough help for the setup so that shouldn't be a problem. When you arrive either ask for me or Jenny, who is our contact at KcATC running this event.

Thank you for signing up to help out next Wednesday night. I have my eye on the forecast, but just wanted everyone to know this event will go on rain or shine... they'll just move it indoors if needed. Let me know if any of you have questions. This is our first event with this organization and they seem very happy to have us help.

I am going out of town for 2 weeks beginning April 3rd, so I can't make it to this one. However, I have a severely autistic brother, so I would love to help out this organization in the future!

Hi Kris, I have another event to be posted April 7th where we'll help prepare materials, depending on how that goes I'd like to repeat as needed. Hopefully you'll be able to join us at a later date.
