Serve Dinner at Micah Ministry

Micah Ministry feeds more than 500 people on an average Monday evening. It's an ecumenical feeding program, and welcomes volunteers from many different companies, churches and other organizations. There are no lines to stand in here--guests are invited to sit at a table and be served their meal.

Unlike some other feeding programs, there are few screenings to be allowed to come and eat. Because of this, children age 11 and under are not allowed to attend. Twelve and 13 year olds need to have an adult with them--one per kid; older teens are quite welcome!

Come at 5 for job assignment to follow soon after. We're scheduled to help with serving dinner, but may be reassigned to sort clothes in the clothing pantry. We may also be distributing hygiene kits. We should finish by 7:30, if not before.

I was glad to meet Julia and Roman there. I think I saw Georgia at the middle of the rush time, so I didn't manage to stop and introduce myself to her. Unfortunately, didn't meet Grant and Tyler, did you guys see me there?

I echo Georgia's request to find a way for our group members to meet each other there before or after the event.

I will for sure do my best to go again next month and serve again.

I dunno, I got there late and ended up running from the tables to the back getting clothes.

The worst thing was that I couldn't help everyone. Sooooo, I think it went well.

It was a great experience. I will attend again. Is there a way for Serve KC members to meet there. I didn't know the others and didn't see the sign in I've seen at the other meet ups I have attended.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
