The beautiful sweet potato plants we planted in June actually made it through the summer and are ready for harvest! We will dig up the sweet potatoes and donate them to Harvesters for distribution to local kitchens and food pantries. Bring a spading fork to dig potatoes if you happen to have one. No gardening experience necessary!
The 2012 Kansas City Sweet Potato Project is a collaborative partnership of Food Not Lawns Kansas City, Society of St Andrew West, Troost Village Community Association and Squash Blossom Food Cooperative. This year’s goal is to grow 10,000 lb of sweet potatoes for Harvesters.
