From: Aaron
Sent on: Thursday, December 22, 2011 9:51 AM
Is there anyone who would like to host a Special Olympics volunteer event?   If someone is willing to host a meetup for the group I can get us signed up.  Here is a job that I think would be a good fit for our group:

Sat, January 7th - 8:30am - 1:00pm or 12:30pm – 5:00pm Volunteer at Hillcrest Elementary School
Location: Hillcrest Elementary School - 106 S. Hillcrest Rd, Belton, MO 64012
Description: This job will be helping with Individual Skills and Team Skills competition. Athletes who participate in these events are typically lower functioning physically or mentally, or sometimes both. What a treat it is to work at these events!

Subject: Special Olympics Basketball Volunteers Needed in Belton!

December 2011

Dear Friend of Special Olympics,

The Kansas City Area Basketball Tournament in Belton, Missouri is less than three weeks away and we are still in need of volunteers!  With over 400 athletes participating in this event, volunteers are essential to make this tournament a success!

‘Tis the season to do something for others, right?!

We hope you will choose to be a fan of our athletes as they compete here in Kansas City.  You’ll be making a difference while having fun!

As always, specific knowledge of a sport is not required to volunteer, but jobs are available for those with advanced skill and understanding, but all you really need is some free time and the desire to be inspired!

To sign up: Nowadays, we have easy signup for events through the internet. Simply log on to our volunteer system here  and sign up for the appropriate location and shift for the Basketball Tournament. If you do not have access to the internet, please contact me, Julia Hansen ([address removed] or[masked]) with your name, e-mail or mailing address, and the location and shift you wish to volunteer.  If you are representing a group, please also provide the number of people in your group.

All volunteer slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  You may also request a particular job.  We make every effort to accommodate requests, but can not absolutely guarantee a position. Once you commit to an event, you will receive a confirmation message within 1-2 days.  Final details will be sent approximately 1  week prior to your event.  I look forward to working with you!
