Seth Readers Austin Message Board › Thursday's meetup
Thursday’s Seth Readers’ Meetup was as lively, teasing and fun as ever. Thank you all for coming!
Someone asked that we do Seth’s Gates of Horn exercise. Seth said: “Ask for a true dream that comes from the Gates of Horn, that will help harmonize the portions of your being.“
I looked up Gates of Horn, and here’s what Wikipedia said:
The gates of horn and ivory are a literary image used to distinguish true dreams (corresponding to factual occurrences) from false. The phrase originated in the Greek language, in which the word for "horn" is similar to that for "fulfill" and the word for "ivory" is similar to that for "deceive". On the basis of that play on words, true dreams are spoken of as coming through the gates of horn, false dreams as coming through those of ivory.
So give it a try, write down your dream, and next time we’ll see if we had any success.
Miller asked for the link to the website with an index of most of the Seth books. If you go there and look up any topic, and it will tell you what book and session to read about it. Here it is:
What follows is one of my favorite compilations of Seth quotes, on the purpose of life.
Each version of All That Is (each person) is unique. Each has its purpose, thought that purpose cannot be easily defined in your terms. Many people ask, for example: “What is the purpose of my life?” That may include certain actions, but the acts themselves are only important in that they spring out of the essence of your life, which simply by being is bound to fulfill its purposes. (899) . . Physically speaking, man’s “purpose” is to help enrich the quality of existence in all of its dimensions. Spiritually speaking, his “purpose” is to understand the qualities of love and creativity, to intellectually and psychically understand the sources of his being, and to lovingly create other dimensions of reality of which he is presently unaware. . . Man is learning to create new worlds. - from Dreams, Evolution and Value Fulfillment.
Within this reality, it (the self) brings about all kinds of creativity and development that could not appear otherwise. . . By the very nature of consciousness, it seeks to materialize itself in as many dimensions as possible – to create from itself new levels of awareness, new offshoots. . . Certain aspects of your own consciousness could be fulfilled in no other way. . . Consciousness can never be still, but seeks further creativity. . . - from Seth Speaks, sessions 521-522
The motive power of the universe and of each particle or wave or person within it is the magnificent thrust toward creative probabilities, and the tensions that exists, the exuberant tension, that exists “between” probable choices and probable events. . . Consciousness has its own impulse toward growth and value fulfillment. - from The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events.
In each life you are meant to check the exterior environment in order to learn your inner condition. The outer is a reflection of the inner. . . You are meant to understand the nature of your inner self, and to manifest it outward. . . Many personalities adopt different kinds of experiences, focusing upon development in certain specific areas, and ignoring others perhaps for a series of lives.
There is an inner logic to your current relationships, attitudes, and experiences. If in one life, for example, you hated women, you may very well be a woman in the next life. . .to face those attitudes you had against women in the past. If you had no sympathy for the sick, you may then be born with a serious disease, again now self-chosen, and find yourself encountering those attitudes that once were your own. . . No existence is chosen for one reason only, but would also serve many other psychological experiences. . . Physical existence itself has a different effect upon various individuals. Some find it an excellent medium of expression and development. They have the knack for expressing themselves in physical ways and objectifying inner feelings faithfully. . . There are “hardy souls” who thrive in physical reality, and who may have difficulties acclimating to nonphysical areas of reality. - from Seth Speaks, Session 551
Isn't that cool?
Fondest regards to you all,
