Photo-Op at Moore State Park in Paxton, MA

Hi Everyone,

I've been advised that the LARGE Rhododendron will be out in full force this coming weekend at Moore State Park at 1 Sawmill Road in Paxton, MA. Of course, that is, as long as we don't get any major climate changes between now and then.

I stopped there today and a few buds were just starting to open.

In addition to the anticipated opening up of a lot of LARGE Rhododendron, there is an old sawmill, pond, 2 waterfalls, river, small rapids, trails for beginners and intermediate hikers, and plenty of photo opportunities. There are Adirondack chairs for relaxing, a handicap parking area (closer to the photo-op area) including bathroom facilities at the main parking area.

There is no charge to park your vehicle or to visit the state park.

You might like to bring bug spray, water and a snack.

I'm unable to attend. Please talk to others who may want to carpool. Pick the time you want to go and enjoy your time at the park.

There is a downloadable trail map on there website.

For those of you wishing to take advantage of the Golden Hour Light, here is a link to the sunrise and sunset times in Paxton:Sunrise and Sunset Times.

As far as the hours they're open, it does not say on the website. However, the sites of other MA state parks note that they're open from sunrise to sunset. I'm thinking that Moore State Park should be the same.

Happy photographing !  Please share some images at a club meeting.

Steve

I went this past weekend to Moore Park and it was really beautiful. Lots of Azaleas and Rhododendrons in bloom. Took lots of pics. Highly recommended.
