Introduced to photography via Hampshire County 4H joining their camera club and then doing two years of 4H darkroom while in high school oh so many years ago. For the past few years I have been carrying a camera on my four mile walk through the reservoirs in Holden. Recently upgraded from an extended range Canon Powershot to a digital SLR. Because my film SLR lens was compatible, I bought a Nikon D7000. I am trying to educate myself on the features of SLR photography and could use some pointers. While I felt that my pictures were not as good as they could be due to the hardware, I now see that my current limitation is me. In addition to learning more about my hardware, I am also interested to see how seasoned photographers judge photographs. Also interested in what computer software people are using as I am thinking about getting Apple's Aperture. So as you can see, I need to be brought up to speed in the digital age.
I am a long time employee of Saint-Gobain and I would like to do more photography when I retire. My wife and both daughters are high school art teachers so I have been exposed to the art world even though my work experience is in engineering/finance.
