Let's make a Hobo Bag!

I found the tutorial for this hobo bag on pintrest a few months ago and thought it would make a good project for us.  I am posting the link so you can read the directions and maybe even cut your fabric out ahead of time.  It sounds like it is something we can finish up in a few hours.  They have used a heavier/home decor fabric in the tutorial but I really think most cotton fabric would work.  It depends on how much body you want the bag to have or maybe you just want to take a trial run.  That never hurts.

I do not see see anything in the instructions about the amount of fabric needed but it sounds like 1/2 yard of each fabric would work if you are using a solid or all over print and 3/4 of each fabric if you have a directional print.

I will print out instructions and the pattern pieces and bring several copies so if you are not able to print, don't worry about it.

In addition to fabric bring your machine, thread and regular sewing supplies.  If you aren't able to or don't feel like bringing your machine, just bring your fabric and other supplies and do as much as you can, then do your sewing at home.

As always, if you want to work on something else instead you are more than welcome to do that.  You are never required to work on any of the projects.  You can knit, crochet, embroider, work on a journal, do some beading or whatever else you want to do.

Here is the link to the tutorial along with a picture of the bag

It was fun, I almost finished it. Didn't like the idea that it has no pocket inside and I forgot to add one on the outside. Live & Learn!

Lots of fun and help was there when needed. Sandra's bag was almost finished and was beautiful. She helped Patsy with her machine and bobbins. Cathy was a great help. She brought her much needed scotch tape and scissors because I didn't bring mine. The bag is roomy and will be cute on my shoulder when I get it cut out and sewn out.

I'm sorry - I will miss seeing everyone but I have to go out of town unexpectedly. I'll see everyone on the 14th and 28th.
