Women's Weekend 2.0 REINVENTED on the Russian River

Beverly McClellan of NBC's "The Voice" Headlines the Festival!

Women’s Weekend 2.0 is the reinvention of the classic lesbian music and comedy festival that has been happening annually on the Russian River (70 miles north of San Francisco) since 1986.

The overall theme of the festival is “Practice Random Acts of Kindness and Senseless Acts of Beauty”.

In the 80s and early 90s the festival attracted over 6,000 women twice a year. The festival featured an outdoor stage with artists such as Laura Nyro, Thelma Houston, Cris Williamson, Holly Near and many more. The entire town of Guerneville catered to the festival with all the resorts, hotels, campgrounds and restaurants opening their doors to the lesbian market. The festival also had a crafts fair, pool parties and a diverse night life with dances and live entertainment.

Carmen McKay was one of the three founders (Beth Jackson and Eric Pariser) to create the festival. She turned it over to the community in the early 90s. The festival has changed hands many times and became a smaller event. Carmen and her partner, Annie Albright, owners of the lesbian production company, “She She”, have taken the festival back and are reviving it to it’s past glory.

Women’s Weekend 2.0 will take place on the Russian River with Saturday and Sunday being an outdoor festival at the Monte Rio Amphitheater with well-know lesbian entertainers such as Beverly McClellan from NBC's "The Voice", Suzanne Westenhoefer, Julie Goldman, crafts fair, color drop, flash mob, concessions, golf tournament, single’s mixers, wine tasting, a Jazz and Blues day on Sunday and much more. Evening DJ dances and live bands will be held at the River Theater in Guerneville. WW2.0 offers events that will appeal to all ages over 21 – Baby Boomers are invited! WW2.0 is designed to allow women to play full-out and have the kind of fun we thought was left in childhood. There is a deep thrill in seeing one’s own beauty reflected in the open hearts of others with a backdrop of the gorgeous Russian River scenery. It’s breathtaking fun, is what it is! WW2.0 is structured to enable women to really connect in a way that inspires them not to hide out in cliques, right? A variety of accommodations are available with everything from tent camping to 5 star hotels.

Hi ladies. My friend (who actually is butch and doesn't just look butch — aka me) had to cancel on the weekend. I can't pitch a tent to save my life. But I'm very handy at mixing cocktails, glamping, DJing and causing trouble. :) Is there anyone camping at The Outback (the recommended campsite on the Women's Weekend website) that will be in the area on Friday and can help me pitch my crazy elaborate glamping tent (which happens to be an exact replica of a 1965 VW Bus)? I promise I will make sure you're a happy camper while we are setting it up ...

The cost for the Full Day Pass on Sat is $46 Early Bird Pricing. That includes the Beverly McClellan concert (normally $55) and Julie Goldman (normally $35) plus all the other performers, activities and Crafts Fair. It does not include hotel or camping. Women choose different hotels or camping on their own. You might have us confused with another festival?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
