4-5 miles approx., flat terrain. To commemorate the one year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy we will revisit the devastated neighborhood of Red Hook and to see how it has rebounded. From Borough Hall we'll take the B-61/77 bus to IKEA and begin our walk visiting Erie Basin, Fairway, Van Brunt Street, Fort Defiance, Valentino Pier, Pioneer and Coffey Street, Steve's Key Lime and The Waterfront Museum. Other points of interest will also be included. Because of the somber nature of this particular walk participants might wish to purchase items along the route or donate a small sum to any gallery or museum that may be open for business. Bring lunch or purchase for al fresco meal break on the pier weather permitting. We'll conclude our hike by walking up Columbia Street to Atlantic Avenue for transportation home via bus or subway. Rain cancels, threat of rain does not.
