Great Manhattan Bridge Walk

27 miles, moderate pace, 12 hours. Start at Brooklyn Bridge, end at GW Bridge. We’ll walk over all of the bridges on which one can leave Manhattan Island by foot. Bring Metrocard for 2 or 3 bus/subway rides (in addition to the 27 miles of walking.) Bring plenty of water & lunch. Heavy rain at start cancels.

MEET: 8:45AM at the Municipal Office Building just north of the Brooklyn Bridge, in Manhattan. (Take 4/5/6/J/M/Z train to City Hall/Brooklyn Bridge.)

LEADER: Walt Wright[masked] [masked]

Contact hike leader directly if you have questions about the hike.

Lots of thanks to Walt. I've walked over the WB twice before in daytime. But this time was in the cool air of evening, starting at 9:00 pm and returning about 30 mins later. The reward was great: looking at the darkening silhouette of New Jersey skyline and the cheerful and colorful bright lights of Manhattan from the bridge - an unforgettable view. The whole walk was fantastic - far more than expected!

Thanks, Walt - incredible day! Returned to Manhattan side of GW approximately 9:30 PM! Fitbit showed 30.5 miles, equivalent of 143 flights of stairs, give or take a few :-)

Walt, Thanks for the wonderful walk. Terrific as always. Looks like 15 miles is my limit in the sun, looking forward to another try in cooler weather.

Made it as far as the Manhattan side of the George Washington Bridge before delirium set in. Thanks Walt for a great walk. Average distance between my GPS App and Fitbit tracker was 20. 3 miles to that point. Map and others stats in photos.

Good morning, Walt. Is there any possibility that the High Bridge will be open for this walk? Looking forward to this walk!
