This group is called Shut the F*$! up and Write, or Shut Up and Write for you sensitive souls. SUAW groups meet all over the country, and we're finally bringing it to Honolulu.
Being a writer is all about sitting your butt down in a chair, and putting the pen to the paper. We're here to form a supportive group where we are going to get together and do just that.
We'll do introductions and pleasantries for about 20 minutes, and then we will all shut the f* up, and bury ourselves in our laptops and notepads for the next hour or two. Potty breaks are allowed, but discouraged. We're here to get our butts in front of blank pages, surrounded by other writers, and engage in that glorious and sacred act of writing.
We are writers of all stripes. All are welcome no matter what you're working on, and you certainly don't need to be a professional writer to join us. Anybody who keeps a diary is welcome to our supportive writers' group. Some of us are working on a novel or play, others on articles or blog posts. Whatever your little heart desires, whatever inspiration comes to you, just get it down on that blank page that is staring you back in the face. No one is going to read your creations, and no one is going to judge anything about what you do. We just expect you to show up, shut up, and write.
We've done this kind of meet up before in other cities and find it incredibly supportive to have a place where we can go and be with a group of other focused people, plucking away at the keys. Headphones optional. We will tell you to shut up and write, but we are actually very nice and supportive and encourage one and all to attend. We might even be friends by the time this is all over.
