AUTUMN FROM A KAYAK
NOTE: This is Shutter-Bud, Jeff. Sophie and Jeff took me kayaking on Tully Lake a few weeks ago.
Sophie Zyla, Jeff Ruhloff, and I are hosting this meetup. Sophie was a kayak instructor and very knowledgeable about nature. So isn't Jeff. They are perfect people to be co-hosting this event.
Got kayak? Then join us!
We'll immerse ourselves in the fall and its colorful splendor from the large Tully Lake as we kayak around its islands and meander along its banks, in and out of coves looking for photo ops. The 1,300-acre area is located in the North Quabbin Woods. We will picnic on an island of our choosing. There is a frisbee golf course. If there is interest, we can also hike up Mt. Tully, a monadnock from which you can see Mt. Wachusett and Mt. Monadnock in NH.
On the way home, we will stop at Chubby's in Belchertown for dinner. It's a cool 50's restaurant with a very cool menu with lots of choices. They also play oldies from the 50's, of course. Fun!
MEET: at the boat launch off route 32 just past the Tully Lake dam in Royalston, MA at 10:00 a.m. It is about 76 miles north of Hartford.
BRING: kayak (Sophie has a couple extras;) life jacket & paddle; camera in a large closable plastic bag. I also have a canoe and we have a 3rd seat.
More to follow!
