Sat 8/24, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Boating and Fishing at Lake Sampson, Starke, FL: Come out to Lake Sampson for a day of boating, fishing, and grilling on a ½ acre lake lot and dock on the south side of the Lake Sampson. The lake is located a few miles southwest of Starke, FL off US301. The lake is about 2 miles in diameter with deep water in the center and shallow water around the perimeter with lily pads, cypress trees, and lots of water birds. There are scenic places to canoe or kayak around the perimeter, including a canal to adjacent Lake Crosby and a canal that ends at a dam to Sampson creek.
All types of boats are welcome. Motorized boats can be launched at the county boat ramp on the east side of lake; canoes, kayaks and rafts can be put on the water from the dock (although it is 600 feet long so you may want a helper or a wheeled cart). The bass fishing is great! There will be a water ski boat there (with skis, knee board, inner-tube, and air chair) for anyone young and brave enough to give it a try! A paddle wheel boat and water-volleyball net will be available; or you if you feel lazy, you can bring your own floating mat, raft, etc...
There is shade for picnicking and two charcoal grills so bring whatever you want to grill along with picnic food and drinks. We will cookout around noon. Bring a lawn chair, your swim suit, towels, sunscreen, bug repellent, and whatever else you need. There will be a port-i-pot (chemical) in the garage and running water for rinsing (but not drinking). Drop in whenever and stay as long as you want. Leaders are Susyq [masked]) and Vicky [masked])

Driving directions to county boat ramp on East side of lake if you are launching boat there:
From US 301 in Starke, turn right (West) on State Road 100. Drive about 2 miles until see sign for the "Slab", which is a bait shop and tavern.
Turn left on the paved road (SW 75th Ave) and drive another mile until it dead ends at boat ramp. At the boat ramp, the canal divides to Lake Rowel (under rail road bridge) or to Lake Sampson (to the right). You can leave your vehicle at boat ramp for the day and paddle or motor over to my dock. At the end of the canal to Sampson, turn left and go parallel to shore towards SW side of lake. There are two docks close together that both have silver car ports on them. Mine is the second one where all the action is at!!! See map for approximate location or email [masked] for a copy.
