Saturday, June 12 at 8:30 AM: Gainesville Hawthorne Trail Bike Ride and Paynes Prairie Wildlife Viewings

Come join us for a bike ride through the rolling hills and curves of this relaxing and rejuvenating paved bike trail on Saturday, June 12. We will meet at 8:30 AM at the front end of the Walmart Shopping Center at I-295 and San Jose Blvd in Mandarin. It is approximately a 1.5 hour drive to the trailhead. We will begin our ride at the Gainesville/Boulware Springs Trailhead end and ride about 5 miles of the trail and back through the Paynes Prairie Preserve and the Lochloosa Wildlife Management Area. This end is the most shaded part of the trail, has sink holes to explore, overlooks and boardwalks where we can get off our bikes and take a walk to see alligators and other wildlife so bring a lock for your bike if you can. Bring sunscreen, water, and snacks for the ride. We will stop for lunch at a Gainesville eatery after the ride. Leader: Paula S.(c) 588-2707.

Saturday, June 19 at 7:30 AM - Hike at Bayard Conservation area.

We will hike and explore the trails at the John P. Hall Sr. Nature Preserve which is part of the Bayard conservation area on the St. Johns River. Bring sunscreen, snacks, bug spray and plenty of water. We will meet at the McDonalds on US 17 across from the Dog Track in Orange Park. Leader: Diane J. [masked]

Sunday, July 4 Picnic at Hanna Park

We have reserved shelter # 1 near parking lot 8 which is the best location at Hanna Park. It has a beautiful view of the ocean and gets a pleasant breeze. There is a $3.00 fee per car to get into Hanna Park (less if you arrive before 10:00 AM). The club will provide oven roasters and fried chicken. Bring a side dish to share and what you desire to drink. Bring bathing suits, sunscreen and beach toys. I plan to arrive at 9:30 AM, however, you can arrive at any time. We will eat at 11:30 - 12:00. Please contact Mr. Kim L. at[masked] [masked] cell) to let me know you plan to attend so I know how much chicken to pick up.

We hope you can make it to one or more of the above fun activities.
