Saturday, May 1 @ 9:30 AM Jacksonville Arboretem and Gardens Nature Walk

Hello Sidetrackers,

Reminder of our nature walk at the Arboretum and Gardens on Saturday, May 1, 2010 and of our monthly meeting at the Southeast Regional Library off Butler Blvd and Gate Parkway on Wednesday evening, May 5, at 6:30 PM. Please call Judy or I at the below listed phone numbers if you have any questions.

Come see and walk this beautiful Arboretum and Gardens nature preserve in East Arlington this coming Saturday. You may have read the recent article in the Sunday, April 18, Metro section of the Times Union. They describe this as a "majestic spot of wilderness" which includes " a variety of ecosystems in a small area". This park opened in 2008 and has four walking trails so far. They wind through low lying canopies and flood plain along Jones Creek and then northward shifting from live oak forests to marshland. The total walking distance is only two and a half miles and includes ravines, a lake, and beautiful scenery. Bring water, walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent. For those interested, we plan to visit a local eatery to have lunch after the walk.

So, sleep in a bit and meet us at the park on Saturday, May 1, at 9:30 AM. The address is 1445 Milcoe Rd. in the 32225 zip code.(http://jacksonvillearboretum.org). The best way to access is to travel on 9A and head east at the Monument Rd exit. Go approximately 1/4 of a mile and then turn left onto Milcoe Rd. When this road turns to the left, you turn right into the Arboretum parking lot. Judy is leading this event and I am her co-leader. Please call one of us to advise you are coming or to ask any questions.

Thanks,

Judy McMillan:[masked]
