Capital Group Service Day

Join us on a Sierra Club Service Day to the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle's 6 acre teaching farm! Duties may include collecting eggs from the chicken coop, cleaning the goat pen, transplanting plants into the field, preparing the soil for planting or harvesting produce. IFFS staff will meet us in the parking lot and will guide us through what needs to be done.

The farm requests a $10 donation per person for groups to help support the work of the Food Shuttle farm. IFFS has a unique opportunity for folks to do some farm work who have no experience and through that to connect to the importance of our local food system. They want as many people as possible to have this experience, but this model is expensive to maintain in both infrastructure and staff time which is why they request the donation. They will waive the fee for any individual for whom it is a hardship, and will certainly not turn away anyone from working if they are unable to pay.

Be sure to bring some drinking water and to wear closed-toe shoes!

The farm is located at 4505 Tryon Road, Raleigh, NC 27603
(next to McNair Horse Farm and Stables). Please post below if you are interested in carpooling.

Looking forward to learning about things like this, even if it might be a little soggy.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
