Hillsborough River Holiday Boat Parade -JOIN THE SIERRA CLUB FLOTILLA

Boaters and paddlers are invited to bring your decorated vessels and join the fun at the 14th annual Holiday Boat Parade organized by Friends of the River, Sulphur Springs Action League, and supported by Tampa Bay Sierra Club. THIS YEAR, TAMPA BAY SIERRA CLUB WILL ORGANIZE A FLOTILLA OF GAILY DECORATE LIGHTED CANOES AND KAYAKS! DRESS IN RED AND GREEN AND HELP US LIGHT UP THE NIGHT!

Boats meet at the Lowry Park boat ramp on the river at 5:30 pm and parade starts at 6 pm. Route will go upriver past Sulphur Springs Tower at Florida Avenue and end at Sulphur Springs Park City Pool at 701 E. Bird St. at Nebraska Avenue. BRING YOUR OWN BEVERAGES AND SNACKS FOR THE AFTER PARTY.

Spectators are invited to enjoy the parade of lights over the water between 6 - 7 pm  along the river or at the neighborhood Christmas Party at Sulphur Springs Park. Enjoy carols by Sulphur Springs Elementary School's Tiger Choir with Mr and Mrs Santa Claus! For more information, (813)[masked] or [masked]

Hey everyone ... weather looks great this evening for a holiday boat parade! Please plan to be a lowry park boat ramp NO LATER THAN 5:30 to unload and park... look for the Sierra Club sign! DEPART AT 6 PM.

Remember to bring lights (mandatory). You will need to paddle back to Lowry Park afterwards since there is no ramp at Sulphur Springs park. It's approx. one hour getting there (slowly) and a half hour paddle on the way back. See you there!

I have a spare kayak that someone is welcome to decorate and use. The only requirement is you have to come to Brandon before the parade to help me hoist that bad boy on the top of my car! :)

I have an extra (10 foot) kayak but will likely not have transportation for them this weekend. If anyone with a pickup or rack would be willing to drive to the area of Kenedy and Dale Mabry, I would love to join and provide someone a kayak (paddle and life jacket included).

If we don't have our own boat, will kayaks be available to rent, or, might someone with a larger vessel have room aboard for friendly strangers? I love the lighted boat parades, how fun to somehow be part of one! Thank you!

LED lights are now sold everywhere you find holiday decorations. 4 strings with 2 AA batteries will light the gunwales of a canoe; 1-2 will do for a kayak. Then you can use the lights in your home's decorations the rest of the holidays: LEDs are so efficient, the same batteries will last for weeks. It's never been easier to be part of this fun event!
