The Suncoast Sierra Club is joining CONA St. Petersburg and others to host a cleanup of Booker Creek at Campbell Park.
A few years ago the Tampa Bay Estuary Program awarded us some grant money to plant native plants along the creek, which forms one of the largest watersheds and storm-water basins in Pinellas county. As part of that project we've agreed to have periodic maintenance work days at the site.
On Sat., Feb. 22, we're going to weed the native beds, mulch upland areas, pick up trash, and remove invasive exotics from the creek.
The City of St Petersburg will supply us with bags, pickers, gloves, and carts to take away trash. But feel free to bring your own equipment, especially boots/waders if you're brave enough to get in the creek (there's plenty of work to do even if you're not). The Sierra Club will also provide coffee and bagels for all volunteers.
Please join us, and spread the word to your friends!
