Music, Wine, History!

This is a multi-event afternoon/evening! Feel free to join for any or all of it.

Starting at 4PM:

Local artist Sean Gilmore’s artwork is on display at the Stanley-Whitman House for the month of August.  Saturday, 8/24, 4-6pm, Sean will be hosting a reception to give you a chance to meet w/ with him directly. As the artist said “That sounds fun, but will there be wine?” Yes, yes, there will be, and some interesting discussions & responses too, as many have had questions and comments regarding this display.  The historic house and museum are also open for a self-guided tour.

Then at 5:15 there will be a free concert of piano and orchestra music by talented young people at the SENSATIONALLY GORGEOUS St. Cyril and Methodius Church in Hartford (45 Groton St- it's a one way between Charter Oak Ave and Wyllis.)  If you've never been in this church before, the minute you step in it's like you're in Europe. There is a small parking lot next to the church and street parking is free.

Then it's on to Asylum Hill Congregational Church for a 7:30 free concert by the terrific guitar duo of Judith Handler and Marc Levesque with a reception afterward. (The funding doesn't cover the cost of reception, so snack donations are welcome).

These are all some wonderful and free things to do in and around Hartford!
