10 miles, Saratoga Gap Loop, Castle Rock

Join me for a 10-mile loop in Castle Rock Park, beginning at Saratoga Gap instead of the main entrance. This hike is for experinced hikers and will be a moderately fast paced hike, stopping only at intersections to regroup. We first head south along Skyline Trail and will cut over Lohgry Wood Trail and down to the backpacking camp for a quick lunch. Bathroom and water is only available at this stop. We head out Frog Flat Trail and over to Travertine Springs Trail for the climb back out to Saratoga Toll Road. Saratoga Toll Road was built to handle heavy wagons needing to get over the Santa Cruz Mountains so the remaining trail climbs gently for the last 3 miles. Hike is around 2,000 feet in cumulative elevation gain. For carpool sites please check the Loma Prieta Sierra Club activities calendar on their website.
