Newcomer Hike - Edgewood Park - 4 miles

This is a wonderful, easy hike in the gentle rolling hills between Redwood City and Woodside. Everyone is welcome. The hike is 4.1 miles with 300 feet of elevation gain. There are usually deer, many different birds, and possibly a bunny or two, and the flowers are starting to bloom. This is not a difficult hike, and we DO stop and break at all trail junctions. Please bring sturdy shoes, water, a snack if you need it, and layers of clothing. Following the hike, at about 12:00, lunch is an option at the Canyon Inn where we can sit-in or out-side, or Sancho's, a good Mexican place, both nearby.

This is NOT the usual parking entrance to Edgewood Park and NOT the Park & Ride. Find us near the small Edgewood Preserve sign on Edgewood Road just east of Canada Road. If you have any questions please contact the leader prior to the day of the hike.
Heavy rain cancels.

Event covers 4.1 miles, with 300 feet of elevation.

Got there at 9:38 - Just missed the group. On my own I would have run to catch up, but my husband has a bad knee so we just plodded along. Sorry I was late - got a bit turned around on the way. Nice little hike, though.

Sorry we missed you - got turned around and were 10 minutes late. Couldn't catch up because my husband has bad knees. Did see jackrabbits, though. Nice walk. Next time I'll be on time!

In the meantime, I'll check out some hikes with groups that don't have participation limits, too, so that I can go on a hike for sure tomorrow.

Kal, our hikes are led by Sierra Club volunteers who are concerned with the environmental impact of large groups congregating in sensitive, protected areas such as Edgewood Park. This hike, like all our hikes listed with the Sierra Club Hiking Meetup, will be attended by Sierra Club Loma Prieta Sierra Singles who are not required to RSVP for our hikes. Most of the time there are many more LPSS members attending than Meetup people. I hope this helps.

Limits do not cause people to stay at home. They just end up hiking in a different group like I will be doing. There are at least two other hikes happening at the same time with no limits. I think we all know how to be responsible hikers near a water reservoir.

Like Diane asked earlier, where do we park? Is there on-the-road parking?

I'm not quite sure where to meet ... I know where the park's parking lot is located - can someone give directions relative to the parking lot?
    thx
