That was a great combination shade and sunshine hike; it was nice to be with experienced and new-to-hiking people. I enjoyed the good sharing and caring folks, too. Thanks to whoever introduced me to the musician Greg Brown! Some of the hikers expressed an interest in hot springs and falling stars; pictures of the recent hot springs outing and information regarding the Perseids meteor shower are available. Am looking forward to learning more about GPS mapping and being on the trail again with Sierra Club members and all others!

You could still borrow a GPS unit, and I could send you your data and instructions to upload and edit at openstreetmap.org.

Great timing! There should be a good flow for the falls, with blue skies. What a way to burn easy calories and to start Spring!

I'll be coming from Mountain View. Would anyone like to carpool and share gas/park entry expenses? I'll also need to be back in Mtn View by 3:45 pm. Meet at Trader Joe's San Antonio Shopping area so will leave following the hike (2:30pm)

Hello Hiro, You just need to sign out when you leave. and be able to find your own way back. We may be back by then but no guarantees. Make sure you let folks know if you are carpooling.

Most Sierra Club hikes too fast for me, but I used to own about 300 acres on a 600 ft wide, two mile long strip of Uvas Canyon, starting near Loma Prieta running adjacent to and below the many Loma Chiquita ridge properties. That's my twisted yellow D8 over the side that you can see on a ridge coming from Loma Chiquita Rd, viewable from across the canyon on Summit Road. There is a 100 foot double waterfall in a fiddleneck canyon, also just barely viewable from Summit Road across the canyon, from the pad on the 400 acre property of the late Mars "Mark" Silarj (the very nice guy with one arm from WWII surgery in the field, who walked along Summit Rd. each day). At the bottom of the double waterfall is a virgin Sycamore and Doug Fir forest with the trees having 6 foot girths. If anyone is immune to poison oak and wants to slowly try to scramble to and down the waterfall, let me know. Last time I did it, I ended up in emergency getting steroid shots for poison oak, but it was worth it.
