Berry Creek Falls via Howard King, Big Basin, 11 miles
Berry Creek Falls is a favorite hike this time of year because we hike under the redwoods most of the way. We will take a slight variation of the usual loop by first climbing up to Mt. MacAbee Overlook and down Howard King Trail to Skyline-to-the-Sea Trail. We then hike up past three waterfalls before connecting to the Sunset Trail. It can be cool in the Santa Cruz Mountains so bring layered clothing. This hike has 2200 cumulative elevation gain, and we will hike at a moderately fast pace. This is not a hike for beginners. I am not setting up a carpool but feel free to leave a post if you want to set one up. Meet at the parking lot across from the store after paying park fee. Bring water, snacks, lunch, and something to share after the hike. Email with questions.
