BMHS Castle Rock State Park Hike

3C hike (13 miles and 2,000 ft elevation gain) at Castle Rock State Park on Sat. Sept. 14th at 9:15 A.M.

Hike Description:
We will meet at 9:15 A.M. for a 9:30 A.M start at the Saratoga Gap parking lot, corner of Hwy 9 and Hwy 35/Skyline Blvd for this strenuous 13 mile and 2,000 ft elevation gain hike. To reach the trailhead, from Hwy 85 take exit 14, Saratoga Ave., towards Saratoga Village, continue on CA-9/Big Basin Way. At the intersection of Hwy 9 and 35, make a left turn and again an immediate left into the parking lot. The hike will take approximately 6 hours to complete including breaks and lunch.

From the Saratoga Gap parking lot, we will follow the Skyline and Summit Rock Loop trails to the park's main entrance. Once in the park, we will visit Castle Rock, of course, and Castle Rock Falls. From there, we will take the Saratoga Gap trail with its spectacular views to the trail camp where we will break for lunch. After lunch, we will continue on the Frog Flat Trail to Travertine Springs Trail and to Saratoga Toll Road Trail which will lead us back to the cars. Those wishing for a shorter, less challenging hike will be given the opportunity to sign out at the lunch spot and take a 3.5 mile shortcut to the parking lot.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
