Halloween walk in Palo Alto

Waverley Street in Palo Alto on this spookiest of nights, Halloween, is the place to be.
Come walk with me through the neighborhoods and be enchanted with all the decorations and costumes. It is rumored that Steve Jobs liked to celebrate Halloween in a big way, and the neighborhood joined in.

The courtyard of the house on the corner of Waverley and Santa Rita Avenue is well worth the line you must wait through to get in to see the living ghouls and pumpkin displays in this interior courtyard.

Join the fun and action by wearing a costume, least someone thinks you are dressed up as an “old person”! You will have plenty of company with other adults in costume.

This walk will be starting from the parking lot near California and Ash in Palo Alto. Friendly dogs are welcome; bring bags for clean up.

Directions: From 280, take the Page Mill exit east. Turn left on El Camino Real. Turn right on California, go one block to Ash. Turn right on Ash. The parking lot is in middle of block on your left. Look for us under a light on the Ash side of the parking lot.

Meeting location: Parking Lot off Ash between California and Sherman in Palo Alto, behind Starbucks.

Nice, small group. A stroll through a Palo Alto neighborhood and as Jeanne mentioned, 2 beautifully decorated homes that went all out were the winners...

It was a nice, pleasant night and 9 people attended. Most of us were in costume, which was fun. We walked around in Palo Alto and saw some spectacular displays. The longest line was at Steve Jobs' house. His family puts together some elaborate displays in their courtyard. The theme this year is Night of the Living Dead. There was also a display "To Grandmother's House" with a haunted forest path with a talking tree, large spiders and plenty of cobwebs!

Sorry I didn't make it down in time to meet you before you left for the walk, I had transportation issues and traffic was really bad :-( I hope to join you some other time, I hope you enjoyed your Halloween walk!

Anyone interested in grabbing a bit to eat before and are the parking lots in palo alto free on weeknights? Is it after 6pm ? I think there are several; are they all city owned lots?

I'd like to join you if I can make it back from work before 5:30, but will not RSVP because I'd hate to cancel.
