BMHS Windy Hill OSP Hike

Starting time for hike: 9:20 meeting time for a 9:30 AM start at the Portola Road Windy Hill OSP Parking Lot

Hike Length: approximately 11 miles and 1860 ft. of elevation gain (most at the beginning)

Hike description: We will hike up via Spring Ridge Trail, then take Anniversary Trail to picnic area for early lunch stop, continue on Lost Trail to Ridgeback Ridge Trail to Eagle Trail and back to Portola Valley parking lot.

What to bring: Boots, poles, water, lunch, and snacks to share after the hike. Dress in layers, heavy rain cancels but light rain is ok.

Expected duration of hike: 4-5 hours

Directions to trailhead/parking lot: Windy Hill Open Space Preserve is located in the Town of Portola Valley. The parking lot at the lower portion of the preserve is located on Portola Road. From Highway 280, exit Alpine Road in Portola Valley. Go south on Alpine Road about 2.9 miles to Portola Road (the first stop sign). Turn right on Portola Road and travel 0.8 miles to the parking lot on the left side of the road.

No host carpool at page mill park and ride: 9:00 am

No host carpool at edgewood road/highway 280 at 8:45 am

or meet at Portola Road Windy Hill Parking Lot at 9:20

      HI Katie, unfortunately we cannot allow dogs on this hike. We will be taking trails that are not open to dogs including Lost Trail and Razorback Trail. Dogs are only allowed on Spring Ridge and Hamms Gulch.
