BMHS Stevens Creek - Fremont Older Hike

Hike length: 7 miles; 1300 feet of elevation gain

Hike description: Stevens Creek Park, established in 1927, is Santa Clara County's oldest park. Fremont Older Open Space Preserve is adjacent to the park. This short loop-hike through the length of the park and the high trails of the preserve will reveal the effects of the drought, including the almost empty reservoir. Potable water is available in the park at the beginning and middle of the hike. A restroom is available near the start.

Expected duration of hike: 3 hours

Carpool locations: Participants may organize their own. Call leader only on the morning of the hike.

Time to meet at trail head: 8:45 for a 9 am start

Directions to trail head: From I-280, take Foothill Blvd south about 3 miles to the northern park entrance to the left (Foothill Blvd changes to Stevens Canyon Rd at McClellan Rd.) Enter the first parking lot immediately down the hill from the entrance. There is a day-use fee of $6.

What to bring: Boots, poles, water, snack, layered clothing.
