Hike Purisma Creek Redwoods

Join me for a hike at Purisima Creek Redwoods. The hike has great ocean views, towering redwood trees, fern-filled canyons. This will be about a 10 mile hike.   We'll start with a descent that serves up big views of Half Moon Bay and Pillar Point. The path along the North Ridge and Whittemore Gulch Trails winds in and out of the sun, through trees and down to the  creek. We'll go past tall sycamores and second-growth redwoods before the 2.3-mile gradual climb up the Purisima Creek Trail (the forest canopy). This leads to a 2.6-mile stretch along skinny, canyon-hugging Craig Britton Trail (Soda Gulch Trail), traversing redwoods and wooden bridges. Then a 1.4-mile climb up Harkins Ridge with a view of the coast.

Meet at 1 p.m. at the North Ridge Trailhead on Skyline Blvd. (Hwy. 35), 4.4 miles south of Hwy. 92. at 1 p.m.

Take 280 North from San Jose to Hwy 92 toward Half Moon Bay.  Then Left on CA 35/Skyline Boulevard.  4.4 miles on the left. Meet at the North Ridge Trail trailhead located on Skyline Boulevard (Highway 35), 4.5 miles south of Highway 92. Parking is available for 30 cars.

Please be advised this is not a beginner hike. You should regularly hike 10 miles.  Bring snacks and 2 quarts of water.

Carpools - No host Page Mill Park and Ride at 12 p.m.

A very pleasant hike through the cool redwoods with a nice group of hikers on a warm Sunday afternoon. It was well prepared and organized. Thank you Kris!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
