Dogskin Peak is the 7,464 ft. high point of the Dogskin Mountains, which run just south of Winnemucca Ranch Road. The hike, 10 miles roundtrip with 3,100 ft. total elevation gain, is strenuous. Except for a steep half-mile cross-country scramble to the top, it's all on dirt trails/jeep tracks and goes through some interesting canyons. Meet at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of the Burger King at the corner of La Posada and Pyramid Hwy. in Spanish Springs. Bring lunch and a couple of liters of water - predicted high for Monday is 72 (yes!!).
As this is a Sierra Club hike, you will need to sign a liability waiver. If you wish, a $1 donation to help defray the expense of training Sierra Club hike leaders in First Aid and CPR, is always appreciated. If you have further questions, I can be reached through this site or at (775) 742-2085.
