Meeting at 3 p.m. at the Galena Creek Visitor's Center Sunday 5/11. Hiking time approx. 4 hours. It is around 7 miles total and around 2,000 foot elevation gain. Fifth session in the series to prepare to hike Mt. Rose.
Last week the group went all the way to Church's Pond. This week we will do a one-way car shuttle at a moderate pace. We will be meeting at the Galena Visitor's Center. Then all jump into the other car/cars and drive to White's Creek Trailhead where we will start.
We will hike from White's Creek to the Galena Creek Visitor's Center. We should get there by around 7 or 7:30 p.m. Fantastic scenery.
Comfortable waterproof hiking boots recommended with good tread. No dogs as there is a log to cross in the beginning. Maps will be provided. Dress for the cool evening temps in the forest. PLENTY of food and water a must. Poles or knee supports recommended as we will descend all downhill for 3 miles on the return.
If you have a health condition that will prevent you from hiking at high altitudes--skip this one please.
If you wish to donate a buck toward offsetting the expenses of First Aid/CPR training for the Sierra Club hike leaders, it will be appreciated. All participants are required to sign a waiver at the start of the hike.
Hope to see you there!
