On Thurs., Aug. 21st, we will hike the Hidden Valley Loop in east Reno, meeting at the park at 5:30. To reach our trailhead in Hidden Valley Park, take E. McCarran in SE Reno to where it intersects with S. Rock Blvd. and where Rock becomes Pembroke. Go east on Pembroke for 1 mile to Parkway Dr., where you will turn right and go south for 1/2 mile. After passing through the park gates, turn left on the loop road and follow it around to the dirt parking lot on the east side of the park, at the base of the hills and near the water tanks, where we will meet. We will hike for 4 miles with 800 ft. of elevation gain, on mostly single track trails, but some stretches are steep and rocky with loose footing. Good boots are a must for this hike, and poles will be helpful. Bring plenty of water, layers, and sunscreen. Since this is a Sierra Club hike, we will ask you to sign our liability waiver before we start and also donate $1 to help cover costs of CPR and Wilderness First Aid training for our leaders. This is always a fun hike with great valley and big sky views!
