Sierra Club Hiking-Reno

The Great Basin Group of the Sierra Club has a record of outings leadership for many decades. Our group offers a variety of outings geared to please everyone from beginners to the highly conditioned outdoors person. Check out our hikes, snowshoes, x-country ski trips, kayaks, overnight camping, public-service cleanups, or wilderness restoration projects. Leaders all have experience leading trips, are knowledgeable about the environment and places they go, and have first aid training with an emphasis on wilderness. Outings are rated easy, moderate, or strenuous to help you decide on the trip that is best for you.  All outings have a trip waiver to be signed that acknowledges outing member responsibility, express assumption of risk, and release of liability.  (The waiver is available to read at our web-site at the beginning of the local outings page).  If you are interested in joining Sierra Club, membership is available through our web-site (below).  Your membership will help to support national Sierra Club and our local Great Basin Group.  Sierra Club is the leading environmental organization that works to protect endangered species, threatened lands from pollution, create new wilderness, advocates for the use of earth-friendly energy resources, and foundation is built upon the premise that taking people into the outdoors to experience nature first-hand is the best way to gain support for all of these causes.
